Company Overview

Text Box: Established in 1978, W.G. Hinman, Inc. strives to provide general construction and construction management services of the highest quality. In managing complex projects in new construction, renovation and historical restoration, our expertise and creativity turn our clients’ visions into reality, on time and on budget. Our reputation is built on our commitment to performance and dedication to developing long-term relationships.

W.G. Hinman, Inc. has successfully collaborated with the University of Pennsylvania, a valued client since 1982, to complete numerous projects. We are comfortable performing work in occupied buildings and our project managers, superintendents and subcontractors understand the complicities of working in a higher education environment. Furthermore, we are comfortable working with minimal design documents and preliminary outline specifications. Together with the owner, end users, adjacent occupants, designer and select subcontractors, we achieve all project goals to complete projects within budget, on time, with quality products and no disruptions to ongoing operations.

At the start of a project, W.G. Hinman, Inc. takes the lead in providing direction regarding its successful completion. This includes the development of bid packages that assign scope to allow pricing by qualified subcontractors for the various tasks. These packages include scope narratives, drawings, performance specifications and scheduling requirements which eliminate the possibility of duplicate pricing. Although we can subcontract all job tasks, Hinman is not just a broker; we have experienced crews of tradesmen available to get the job done. Most contractors today minimize self-performed work to reduce their financial burden. We believe self-performing work adds value because the coordination of work is completed in a timely and efficient fashion with consideration of the various subcontractors and tradesmen, some of which are Hinman employees. This equates into lower subcontractor quotes.

With regard to the mechanical and electrical portions of a project, W.G. Hinman, Inc. understands the importance of maintenance related issues. During the specification process, standardization of equipment must be considered, as well as accessibility and ease of maintenance issues. True added value only occurs when a product not only meets, but exceeds its life expectancy performance criteria.

From a technical aspect we have designed automated processes which allow us to track individual components of a project regarding proposals, purchase orders, submittals, ordering of materials, requests for information, potential cost events, approved cost events, cost tracking, scheduling and close out documentation.
